STUDY OF RECOIL PROTON INITIATED REACTIONS. Interim Technical Report No. 1

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4224613
A study of the flux of recoil protons is presented. Also, the feasibility of producing usable radiation sources by recoil proton reactions in a reactor is examined. Calculations of a fast proton flux due to the elastic scattering of fast neutrons were made and these results are compared to measurements made in the reactor. Reactor measurements include those of the fast neutron flunx and flux fall-off at the center of the PSRR core north face and determination of the F/sup 18/ N/sup 13/, and C/sup 11/ activity in samples of H/ sub 2/O, (C/sub 2/H/sub 4/), a nd H/sub 3/BO/sub 3/ irradiated at this position.
