SOME MEASUREMENTS ON THE NEUTRON ATTENUATION IN THE BPP SHIELD

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4222648

Results of measurements on the neutron shielding of BPP are given. The experiments were carried out using the ionization chamber hole in the D-void. The D-void chamber hole was chosen by reason of its large diameter. The attenuation over the thermal shield was obtained by fixing a foil on the D-void cencrete plug tip and by lowering a foil through one of the roof inspection holes into the space between the pile discharge face and the thermal shield. Experiments were made at 0.5, 20, and 200 kw. (W.D.M.)
