Research on the preparation of silicon-containing polymers which are thermally stable and more rigid at elevated temperatures is described. Subjects which have been investigated during this report period are: the synthesis and hydrolysis of difunctional monomers containing one bulky silicon-attached group; further preparation and examination of polymers containing silicon and chelated aluminum; additional work in the preparation of chelated titanium monomers for use in silicon-containing polymers; and a study of various methods of polymerization of bis silanes.
