ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE SPECTROGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF TRACE IMPURITIES IN MERCURY

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4217825
The impurities are oxidized by use of high-temperature compressed air and separated from the Mercury by a fine spray of dilute nitric acid. The solution is evaporated to dryness and examined spectrographically by means of the iron flux technique. The densities of the spectral lines due to the trace impurities are visually compared with those of iron added as an internal standard and the concentration values obtained from a table. (J.R.D.)
