THE SPECTROGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF IMPURITIES IN SODIUM DICHROMATE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4206459
BS>A method was developed for the spectrographic determination of impurities in sodium dichromate. The material is excited in a direct current arc on copper electrodes aligned with a large quartz spectrograph. The impurities are estimated by comparing the sample spectra with standard spectra containing known amounts of added elements and using the chromium spectrum as an internal standard. The method is an adaptation of the iron flux technique. The limits of detection however are slightly higher than in the iron flux method, this being attributed to suppression of the spectrum by the high sodium content of the material. (auth)
