An ionization chamber design is offered which gives a high output current at an impedance of about 10/sup 7/ ohms. This is accomplished by applying a potential difference between anode and cathode to cause space-charge current flow in the absence of radiation but a much larger current during irradiation. The current drawn by virtue of the emitting cathode is 10/sup 4/ times that of ordinary chambers. (T.R.H.)
