The magnesium is concentrated on a column of activated cellulose, and after removal of all the uranium from the column, the magnesium is eluted with a solution of ammonium hydroxide/ammonium nitrate and is estimated by the iron flux spectrographic technique. The method is applicable for magnesium concentration of 1 to 50 ppm. (auth)
