ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF URANIUM IN SCRUBBER EFFLUENT GASES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4211749
The sample of gas is passed through a series of absorbers containing nitric acid solution, sodium hydroxide solution, and water. The uraniuin absorbed is determined absorptiometrically as the ammonium thiocyanate complex. The methcd is applicable to the determination of uranium in samples from incinerator flue stacks and the effluent gases from scrubber systems. Concentrations between 0.05 and 3.0 mg of uraniuin per m/ of gas can be determined. Concentrations outside this range may be determined by suitable adjustment of the sample aliquot. (auth)
