HOW RADIATION MONITOR GUARDS NUCLEAR NAVY

Journal Article · · Electronics (U.S.)
OSTI ID:4208870
The design of a transistorized monitor sensitive to alpha and beta radiation concentrations in the range 8 x 10/sup -10/ to 8 x 10/sup -7/ mu c/cc is described. The system pumps air from the compartment being monitored and passes it through a filter paper where it is examined by a scintillation counter. If the radiation level exceeds predetermined levels, both visual and audible alarm signals are produced. (C.J.G.)
