The properties of Co/sup 60/, Cs/sup 137/, 1r/sup 192/, Sr/sup 90/, Tl/ sup 20 4/, and Tm/sup 170 are discussed together with the applications of radioactive radiation in the sterilizaiion of products, in thickness measurements, and in the modification of plastics (including radiation vulcanization). Measurement of resistance to aging is discussed as well as radiation shielding and the definition of radiation units and doses.
