A reactor safety control device is described. It consists of a rotating flywheel which has neutron-absorbing balls arranged in buckets around the perimeter. When an unsafe condition in the reactor demands immediate shutdown, electrically- operated gates on the buckets are opened allowing the balls to be centrifugally injected into channels in the reactor core.
