The use of paper electrophoresis to separate rare earths from U/sup 235/ fission products is demonstrated. The separation is satisfactory in a buffer solution of 0.2 M citric acid in the pH range 2.2 to 3.0. The sequence and method of identiVcation are indicated for La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Y, Tb, and Ho.
