A magnetic field of variable plane syrometry in reverse proportion to the distance from the field axis is suggested for the analysis of charged particle motions. The field is constructed by means of conical pole pieces in the shape of straight cones with a common axis and common apox. The field is adapted to a prizmatic spectrometer. By selecting corresponding variables it is possible to reduce the problem of scattering to the solution of a single plane problem. (R.V.J.)
