ABSOLUTE CALIBRATION OF A Ra-Be NEUTRON SOURCE

The strength of a Ra-Be neutron source (504.81 mg Ra + 2.5 g Be) has been determined by absolute measurement of the thermal neutron flux at one position within a water tank and subsequently normalizing the relative values of the neutron flux at any other position. The source strength resulted to be (5.87 plus or minus 0.18) 10/sup 6/ neutrons sec/sup -1/ (auth)
