Radiation detectors with phosphor coatings on photoconductive materials are described. The phosphor coatings may be mixtures of phosphors, and are imbedded in a plastic layer on CdS which has electrodes attached. For applications where the phosphor should decrease in efficiency with radiation energy, the use of calcium tungstate, NaI(Tl), KI(Tl), and ZnS(Ag) is suggested. Phosphors with increasing efficiency are anthracene, p-terphenyl, stilbene, diphenylacetylene, naphthalene, and tetraphenyl butadiene. (T.R.H.)
