EFFECTS OF OXYGEN ON ELECTROCHEMICAL AND CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF 1X18H9T STEEL IN WATER AT CRITICAL TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Doklady Akad. Nauk S.S.S.R.
OSTI ID:4196041
Anode and cathode polarization curves were plotted for 1X18H9T steel at 300 deg C and 87 kg/cm/sup 2/ pressure in distilled water saturated with hydrogen, air, and oxygen at partial pressures of 10 kg/cm/sup 2/. The stationary potential of 1X18H9T steel measured with hydrogen saturation was about -0.3 v. with addition of oxygen it shifted to the positive side and reached +4 v. A shift of the potential to the positive side (0.7 v) induced an increase in the rate of corrosion which remained uniform for all concentrations of oxygen. (R.V.J.)
