Engineering: The experiment on film boiling with water inside tubes was terminated. An investigation of the caustic stress corrosion of austenitic stainless steel at high heat flux was begun. A project is reported to investigate the ability of 1-inch sch 40 Inconel piping to withstand stress corrosion at conditions found to be harmful to austenitic stainless steel. Chemistry. The reaction rates of sodium sulfite and dissolved oxygen in boiler water and feed water were studied as a function of temperature, oxygen concentration, phosphate concentration, pH, and copper concentration. A study of decontamination of radioactive components is being made to provide information for a decontamination handbook. (For preceding period see MSAR
