THE REACTION d + d $Yields$ $pi$o + He$sup 4$ AT THE DEUTERON ENERGY OF 400 MeV

A method of checking the charge invariance principle consists in establishing the degree of forbiddenness resulting from the conservation of isotopic spin in meson production processes. The reaction d + d yields pi deg + He/sup 4/ serves as an illustration of this principle. Measurements on the reaction were made at anextracted deuteron bean intensity of about 3x. 10/ sup 10/ sec/sup -1/.(W.D.M.)
