SAFEGUARD REPORT FOR OPEN POOL REACTOR FOR STATE COLLEGE OF WASHINGTON

A description and safeguard evaluation are presented for open pool research and test reactor being supplied to the State College of Washington by the General Electric Company. The reactor is a 100 kw swimming pool with provisions for converting to 1 Mw operation. Experimental facilities include one graphite thermal column, six beam ports, two through tubes, and one pneumatic tube. The initial core loading is to be 3.1 kg of U/sup 235/ to produce an average thermal flux of 0.58 x 10/sup 12/ nv in the core. (W.D.M.)
