A survey is presented of the characteristics of current designs for research reactors. These reactor designs include: (1) Babcock open pool reactor, 1 to 5 Mw; (2) lndatom's pool reactors, Amelie and Beatrice; (3) Atomics International solution-type; (4) General Atomic TRIGAs; (5) Foster-Wheeler tank- type; (6) the Argonaut family, built by Hawker Siddeley, AMF Atomics, and American Standard; (7) Aerojet-General Nucleonics tank- and pooltypes; (8) NDA 10- kw D/sub 2/O-type; and (9) Allis-Chalmers high-flux reactors.
