ON THE DECAY OF $sup 123$I

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.
The gamma rays from the decay of I/sup 123/, produced by alpha bombardnient of enriched Sb/sup 121/, were investigated with a scintillation spectrometer. New gamma rays of 0 plus or minus 10, and 530 plus or minus 10 kev emitted in the decay of I/sup 123/ were detected. From summing studies and from the direct gamma ray spectrum the existence of levels at 435 and 502 kev in Te/sup 123/, known from Coulomb excitation, was confirmed. In addition, the existence of new levels at 690 plus or minus 10 and 320 plus or minus 10 kev in Te/sub 123/ is inferred. New gamma rays of 275 plus or minus 10 and 320 plus or minus 10 kev belonging to the decay of I/sup 121/ were detected. (auth)
