THERMAL NEUTRON /anti/$nu$ FOR $sup 241$Pu
The average number oi neutrons per fission nu of Pu/sup 241/ was measured at thermal energies relative to Pu/sup 239/, U/sup 235/, and U/sup 233/. The measurement yielded the product of nu and the effective fission cross- section (g sigma /sub F/) nu = 3162 plus or minus 72 barn neutrons/fission. Using a measured value (g sigma /sub F/,) = 1070 plus or minus 14 barn, a value of nu = 2.96 plus or minus 0.08 neutrons/fission was calculated. (auth)
