ANGULAR CORRELATION MEASUREMENTS ON Xe$sup 12$$sup 8$

The gamma-gamma angular correlation of the two cascaded gamma radiations with energies 0.540 and 0.455 Mev following the negatron decay of I/sup 238/ was studied. The spin sequence of the Xe/sup 128/ states is shown to be 2 + (0.540 Mev/ Ml + E2) at the only rea 2 + (0.455 Mev/E2) at the only rea 0+ with2.4% Ml inthe 0.540 Mev transition. A weak indication of positrons of an intensity of only 0.002% in the I/sup 128/ to Te/sup 128/ branch was observed. (auth)
