The dual problem relative to the calculation of the criticality factor K/ sub eff/ in a non-critical reactor, i.e., in a reactor whose dimensions are different from the critical ones is considered. The determination of the criticality factor is reduced to calculating the dominant eigenvalue of the reactor characteristic matrix. Reference is finally made both to the calculation of k/sub eff/ dealt with in the perturbation theory and in the theory of coupled reactors and to the correlation between experimental and theoretical results.
