RESEARCH ON ANHYDROUS ZIRCONIUM PHOSPHATE (in Spanish)

The system ZrO/sub 2/-- P/sub 2/O/sub 5/ was studied by examining solids obtained by various methods. In addition to the already known compounds ZrP/sub 2/O/sub 7/ and (ZrO)/sub 2/P/sub 2/O/sub 7/ having molec ular ratios ZrO/sub/2//P/ sub 2/O/sub 5/ of 1: 1 and 2: 1, respectively, two other well-defined anhydrous phosphates were identified by x-ray methods. Of these, one is made up of a second crystalline form of zirconyl pyrophosphate (2: 1) stable up to 1150 deg C, and the other is zirconium orthophosphate Zr/sub 3/(PO/sub 4/)/sub 4/ (3:2). The latter can be obtained in the metastable state by heating beyond 800 deg C with suitable precipitation products. (trauth)
