PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF TITANIUM IN THE FORM OF A PYRIDINE SALICYLATE COMPLEX (in Ukrainian)

Journal Article · · Dopovidi Akad. Nauk Ukr. R.S.R.
OSTI ID:4180018
It is shown that titanium(IV) forms an intensely colored compound with salicylic acid and pyridine. This compound is slightly soluble in water and readily soluble in chloroform. On the basis of this reaction a method was developed for determining titanium. The yellow extract of the complex was photometrized at 400 or 430 m mu . The effect of iron, chromium, vanadium and other interfering elements was eliminated by thiosulfate before extraction. This determination of titanium is applicable in steels and in other materials.
