INVESTIGATION OF THE ZIRCONIUM-MORIN COMPLEX PHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF ZIRCONIUM

The properties of the complex compound formed by zirconium with morin were investigated. This compound is light yellow, emits a green fluorescence in ultraviolet light, is readily soluble in water containing alcohol, and is stable in acidic solutions. It contains the two components in the molar ratio of 1:1. The apparent dissociation constant of the complex was calculated on the basis of a Job curve and found to have the value K/sub d/ = 2.6 x 10/sup -5/. This complex compound is suitable for the photometric determination of small quantities of zirconium. The optimum conditions for this determination were established. (auth)
