An investigation was made of the excitation spectra of the recombination luminescence ard the spectra of forming F centers in a number of alkali halide phosphors actived with Ga/sup +/, In/sup +/, and TI/sup +/, and also in the phosphor CdBr/sub2/(Pb). It was shown that recombination lumineseence is effectively excited in the region of activator so in the more shortwave region of the spectrum. At electron transitions /sup 1/P/sub 0/ yields /sup 3/P/sub 1.0/ in the activator ion the efficiency of recombination luminescence is approximately 200 times less. The spectra of excitation of phosphorescence are by several m mu shifted towards the shortwave side in comparison with the spectra of encitation of stationary emission. Recombination luminescence is also excited in the hostcrystal absorption region, corresponding to the exciton absorption hands and to the transitions from zone to zone. It has been shown that in some alkali halide phosphors at excitation in the bard /sup 1/S/sub 0 yields /sup 1/ P/sub 1/ recombination luminesc ence forms up to 30% or stationary emission. (auth)
