DRIFT TUBE ALIGNMENT FOR THE AGS LINAC

All drift tubes were positioned horizontally and vertically within plus or minus 0.015 inch prior to the axial alignment. The techniques for horizontal and vertical positioning are summarized. In the final method for locating drift tubes axally, the low energy end of each tank was selected as a reference point and dimensions were established to the high energy end of each drift tube in the tank.
