Four representative problems in the design and manufacture of nuclear equipment are discussed: fabrication of a heavy-walled stainless steel vessel for the E-20 loop; design and manufacture of mechanical joints between Zircaloy-2 and stainless steel; determination of the mechanical propenties of hydrided Zircaloy foil; and the production of a Zr-- Be brazing alloy powder.
