The problem of the magnetogravitational instability of an ideal compressible cylinder in the presence of a magnetic field parallel to the axis of symmetry of the system is considered. From the basic equations of the problem considered, the solution of the equations of equilibrium of the external and internal part of the system is obtained by the method of series develooment. The local instabiiity conditions of the cylinder are formulated ffor the case of a uniform magnetic field with intensity proportional to the density of the medium. (tr-auth)
