ISOTOPIC DETERMINATION OF LITHIUM BY NEUTRON ACTIVATION
A method is given for determining the isotopic abundance in lithium samples. A solution of lithium hydroxide is irradiated in the neutron flux of a reactor, and the activity of the fluorine-8 produced by the reactions Li/sup 6/ (n,t) He/sup 4/ and O/sup 6/(t,n) F/sup 18/ is measured in a positron counter. The error of the method is 1 to 2%, which makes it particularly suitable for the analysis of samples from a small research separation apparatus. (auth)
