Quantum and exchange corrections to the energy and chemical potential of the Thomas-- Fermi atom are derived and numerical calculations of thermodynamical functions for a cold atom are presented. Extrapolation of the model to the region of normal densities is considered. The caiculations are compared with the experimenthl datu. (auth)
