Relativistic effects in the Thomas--Fermi atom

Conference · · Int. J. Quant. Chem., Symp., no. 9, pp. 51-58
OSTI ID:4083374
Two methods of applying relativistic corrections to the Thomas--Fermi atom are considered, and numerical calculations are discussed. Radial charge distributions calculated from a relativistic Thomas--Fermi equation agree in gross form with those from more complicated self-consistent calculations. Energy eigenvalues for mercury, as determined from the relativistic Thomas--Fermi solution, are compared with other calculated and experimental values. (auth)
