A simple method of application of the Gibbs equation for the calculation of partial molar properties of components in ternary and multicomponent systems from the known partial molar property of one component is presented. It is also shown that Wagner's, McKay's and Schuhmann's equations for the calculation of thermodynamic properties of ternary systems may be rederived in a systematic and concise manner either from the Gibbs free energy function or the Gibbs-Duhem equation, and that Wagner's and Schuhmann's methods consist of the integration of the same cross differential equation along the same path. These methods are extended to multicomponent systems. (auth)
