Black holes and the Gibbs-Duhem relation

Weinhold's geometric approach to thermodynamics is applied to black-hole-radiation systems to show that Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordstroem black holes do not possess Gibbs-Duhem relations, and that such relations are unlikely in the Kerr case. These results are interpreted as expressing the lack of symmetries present in normal thermodynamic systems. In addition, a parametrization of the black-hole equations is introduced which greatly simplifies calculations.
