Excitation curves at initial deuteron energies of 19.0 plus or minus 0.2 Mev and alpha particle energies of 38.5 plus or minus 0.4 Mev were measured by the stack method. Fool stacks were prepared from a boron and polystyrene mixture and irradiated by a cyclotron beam. Foils of 5 to 10 mg/cm/ sup 2/ thickness with 20 to 30% boron and beryllium foils of 2 to 4 mg/cm/sup 2/ thickness prepared by electrolysis of BeF/sub 2/ and NaF melts were used. The bombarding particle energy was determined by track-energy curves derived by extrapolating known curves for paraffin, air, and aluminum. The Q value for B/ sup 11/(d,2n)C/sup 11/ was -5.0 Mev; for B/sup 10/(d,n)C/sup 11/ it was +6.5 Mev- for C/sup 12/(d,t)C/sup 11/ it was -12.5 Mev; and for C/sup 12/(d,n)N/sup 13/ it was -0.28 Mev.
