TEMPERATURE DETERMINATION IN SPARK DISCHARGES USING TIME-RESOLVED SPECTRA (in German)

Journal Article · · Zeitschrift fuer Angewandte Physik (West Germany) Ceased publication

A method of temperature measurement in plasma is described which is based on the fact that for a temperature increase each spectral line first increases in intensity to a maximum, then declines. This intensity-temperature relation was calculated from thermodynamic equations. In a spark discharge, the temperature, a short time after the breakdown of each single spark, where the highest temperature exceeds 40,000 deg K, is carried to lower values. By relating oscillographically measured intensity verses time to that calculated as a function of temperature, one can determine the temperature as a function of time. (tr-auth)
