BS>In 2 N HNO/sub 3/ and variable H/sub 3/PO/sub 4/ content the solubility of Pu(IV) phosphate decreases to a mirimunn value of 1.06 x 10/sup -4/ mol/l and then increases with increasing phosphate concentration due to complexing of Pu(IV) by phosphate ions. At a concentration of H/sub 3/PO/sub 4/ of 0.012 to 0.04 mol/l the ratio of metal to addend in the complex is equal to m = 1: 1. On increasing the concentration of H/sub 3/PO/sub 4/ to 0.1 mol/l, a complex with m = 2 is formed and the point Of minimum solubility of Pu(HPO/sub 4/ )/sub 2/ is attained. At higher concentrations of H/sub 3/PO/sub 4/ (>0.1 mol/l) higher complexes are formed in steps with m = 3, 4, and 5. The iretability constants for the complexes STAPU(HPO/sub 4/)!/sup 2+/ STAPu(HPO/sub 4/)!/sup 0/ HPO/sub 4/)/sub 5/!/sup 6-/ were calculated from the experimental data and were equal correspondingly to K/sub 1/ = 1.2 x 10/sup -13/, K/sub 2/= 1.8 x 10/sup -24/ K/sub 3/ =3.7 x 10/sup -/, K/sub 4/ 6 x 10/sup 44/, and K/sub 5/ 9 x 10/sup -53/. Calculated sol ubility values of Pu(HPO/sub 4/)/sub 2/ in various solutions under investigation were found to agree with experimentally determined values, Electromigration experiments showed the presence of anionic complexes at higher phosphate concentrations in 2.0 N HNO/sub 3/, (TTT)
