Female Sprague-Dawley rats, 40 days old, exposed to either 400 r or 200 r of total-body Co/sup 60/ gamma -irradiation and compared to nonexposed littermate controls were studied under various conditions. During the first 15 months postexposure breast tumors were removed and the rats were returned to the experiment; after this period the rats were killed as breast tumors were noted, or they were studied until death. Findings are summarized. (C.H.)
