THE CONCENTRATION OF URANIUM IN THE WATERS OF THE BLACK SEA (in Russian)

Detailed data were obtained during the summer of 1958 on the concentrations of uranium in the central and western sections of the Black Sea. The luminescence tests made with 0.3 to 1 liter specimens of water showed uranium concentrations from 1.5 x 10/sup -6/ to 2.8 x 10/sup -6/ g/liter. The order of accuracy is about plus or minus 20%. The mean concentration for the analyzed sections is (2.0 plus or minus 0.3) x 10/sup -6/ g/liter. It is also found that the incoming rivers reduce the mineralization of the marine water but do not alter the uranium concentrations. (R.V.J.)
