OBTAINING ZIRCONIUM BORIDE (in Russian)
The possibility of obtaining zirconium boride of stoichiometric composition with a alight impurity content of the initial materials (B/sub 4/C, ZnO/sub 2/) of technical purity is reported. The effect of the chemical composition and dispersity of the initial boron carbide on the chemical and phase composition of the resulting zirconium boride was studied. As in the case of titanium boride it is expedient, when obtaining zirconium boride by the boron carbide method, to use boron carbide with the maximum content of bound carbon. On obtaining zirconium boride by the vacuum thermal method there occurs a refined purification of boride from the impurities contained in the initial materials. (auth)
