UPPER LIMIT FOR THE ANISOTROPY OF INERTIA FROM THE MOSSBAUER EFFECT

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Letters
It is shown that the Mossbauer effect can be used to study the anisotropy of inertia. The 14-kev gamma transition in Fe/sup 57/ is discussed as an illustration. An upper limit of approximately 10/sup -14/ on the measurement of the anisotropy of inertia was determined. (C.J.G.)
