It is shown that BeO, Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/, and MgO do not effect the thermoelectromotive force of tungsten, while ZrO/sub 2/ reactions with W at 1500 deg C alter its initial thermoelectromotive force. The thermoelectromotive force of Mo is not effected by MgO, Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/, ZrO/sub 2/ and BeO. Tantalum thermoelectromotive force is considerably changed in heated Al/sub 2/Oa, BeO, MgO, and ZrO/sub 2/ powders. (R.V.J.)
