A HIGH-SPEED TRANSISTOR AMPLIFIER

OSTI ID:4157150
A non fed-back transistor amplifier with a gain of 10, rise and fall times less than 2.0 nsec, and the ability to deliver 5-v pulses into a 125 ohm load is described. The amplifier is non-inverting and accepts only positive pulses. However, a distributed inverting transformer is provided so that negative pulses may be amplified. The step function response is nearly monotonic. Pulse droop is less thand 10% at a pulse width of 1 mu sec. The estimated equivalent rms input noise is less than 50 mu v over a bandwidth of 180 Mc/sec with lower half-power frequency approximates 160 kc/ sec. (auth)
