ENERGY SPECTRUM OF PHOTONS FROM DECAY OF $pi$$sup 0$ MESONS GENERATED IN NUCLEAR INTERACTIONS AT THE ALTITUDE OF 3200m ABOVE SEA LEVEL

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4157086
Apparatus with an area of 10 m/sup 2/, containing 6 layers of ionization chambers placed between lead and graphite absorber, was installed at 3200 m above sea level. The apparatus contained a layer of nuclear emulsion plates with the aid of which the energy spectrum of photons from the decay of pi /sup 0/ mesons generated in graphite absorber was studied. The spectrum constructed on the base of 154 events in the energy interval 2 x 10/sup 11/ to 4 x 10/sup 12/ ev has the exponent gamma = 2.0 plus or minus 0.3. (auth)
