ANALYSIS OF THE INTEGRAL SPECTRUM OF IONIZATION PULSES CAUSED BY NUCLEAR ACTIVE PARTICLES AT MOUNTAIN ALTITUDES

Journal Article · · Acta Phys. Polon.
OSTI ID:4743929
BS>A measurement of energy spectrum of nuclear active particles near sea level (200 m) and at mountain altitudes (3200 m) was undentaken The apparatus consisted of ionization chamber trays and mixed lead-graphite absorbers. The spectrum found is almost exponential. The slope has a slight increasing tendency at high energies, but at present without statistical significance. The exponent of the spectrum in energy range 10/sup 12/-5 x 1O/sup 13/ ev is at mountain altitudes 1.7 plus or minus 0.1. It has the same value as primary spectrum exponent in energy interval 10/sup 12/-- 10/sup 15/ ev. This means that the total inelasticity coefficient is energy independent. (auth)
