INVESTIGATION OF THE DECAY Bi$sup 212$ (ThC) /cap beta/ over $Yields$ Po$sup 212$ (ThC') /cap alpha/ over $Yields$ Pb$sup 20$, (ThD) BY ($gamma$,/cap alpha/) COINCIDENCES (in German)

The gamma spectrum of Po/sup 212/ (ThC') was measured by ( gamma , alpha ) coincidences with a fast-slow coincidence apparatus. The results are in excellent agreement with the conversion lines found by the Latyshev group. The absolute gamma intensities were also determined in order to get spins and parities of the levels by calculating the absolute conversion coefficients. The beta intensity leading to the exited states of Po/sup 212/ (ThC') is estimated to be about one third of that measured by Burde and Rozner by ( beta , alpha ) coincidences. Three gamma lines measured by Chinaglia and Demichelis by ( gamma , alpha ) coincidences do not agree with these results. The 2/sup +/ assignment of the first exited stute is now well established. but for the other levels in the decay scheme there is still some uncertainty concerning spin and level assignment. (auth)
