MIXER SETTLER, 16-STAGE (Engineering Materials)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4156879

This package contains 11 drawings. The in-line 16-stage mixer settler is a second modification of a mixer settler that was designed in Belgium. It was modified for use in the solvent extraction chemistry of transuranium and uranium elements. It is a laboratory scale instrument used where the floww rates are low. This modification retains the submerged weir between each settler and the downstream mixer. The weir balances the static head in the settler with an equal head on the downstream side, thus maintaining the aclueous-organic interiace independent of mixer speed. The side, top, front, back plates, and weir are made of Homolite and are painted with Amercoat No. 33. Two gears are nylon, one gasket is Neoprene, and other parts are of stainless steel. The mixer settler is 20 x 5 x 6.75in. (F.S.)
