COINCIDENCE CIRCUIT WITH NANO-SECOND VARIABLE RESOLUTION RANGE AND AVALANCHE TRANSISTORS (in French)

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods
The high-frequency characteristics of avalanche transistors are discussed. Very fast response, a high current gain, low pulse propagation delay, and simple circuitry are features that permit the design of stable coincidence circuits with 2 ns resolving time as well as high-output, narrowpulse standardizing trigger circuits. It is shown that the overall recovery-time may be reduced to 20 ns by means of a charge feedback element, thus rendering the circuit suitable for use in experiments carried out with pulsed linear accelerators. A simple temperature-compensating circuit is described that maintains the overall resolution constant to within less than 0.2% over a temperature range of 10 to 60 deg C. (auth)
